About us
Environmentally Friendly Painting in Cairns
At Urban Fresh, we believe a quality painting job should not come at the expense of your health or the environment.
Wherever practical, we use low-VOC and environmentally considerate paint systems selected to suit the surface, location and conditions of each project. These products can help reduce strong paint odours and airborne emissions, making them a good choice for homes, workplaces and other occupied spaces.
Our environmental approach goes beyond the paint we apply. We also take care when cleaning our equipment and managing leftover paint and wash water, helping reduce the amount of paint residue entering drains and waterways.
We provide environmentally friendly painting services throughout Cairns, Innisfail, Port Douglas and surrounding Far North Queensland areas.
A More Thoughtful Approach to Painting
Urban Fresh has long looked for practical ways to reduce the environmental impact of painting.
Our team has experience working with low-VOC paint systems, heat-reflective exterior coatings and environmentally responsible painting practices. We were also selected to paint the MyGreen Mirage display home for MyStyle Homes, which featured heat-reflective exterior paint and very low-VOC interior coatings.
Along with carefully selecting our products, we developed our own Safe-Waste paint wash system to help manage paint residue and equipment wash water more responsibly.
How Our Safe-Waste System Works
Paint brushes and rollers need to be cleaned properly, but the resulting wash water can contain paint particles that should not be allowed to enter stormwater drains or waterways.
Our Safe-Waste system helps separate those particles from the water so the remaining waste can be managed more responsibly.
- Excess Paint Is Removed
Before washing begins, as much paint as possible is manually removed from brushes and rollers. The equipment is then cleaned inside the Safe-Waste tank. - Paint Particles Are Separated
A specially selected additive is mixed through the wash water, causing the suspended paint particles to settle at the bottom of the tank. - The Water Is Carefully Managed
Once the paint particles have settled, the clearer water can be separated and managed without allowing paint-contaminated wash water to flow into stormwater drains or local waterways. - Remaining Solids Are Filtered
The settled paint material is filtered to remove additional moisture and reduce the amount of remaining waste. - Paint Waste Is Disposed of Responsibly
The remaining paint solids are collected and disposed of using an appropriate waste disposal method.
Better for the Job and the Environment
From selecting suitable low-VOC products to carefully managing paint waste, Urban Fresh takes practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of every painting project.
It is all part of providing a cleaner, more considerate painting service for our customers, our team and the Far North Queensland environment.
